Strength in Change Deduction Update

Retirees who have been contributing $1 (or more) to Strength in Change will no longer see a deduction beginning in July 2025. Strength in Change, a nonprofit foundation started and chaired by a PERA retiree, has dissolved and ended operations as of July 1, 2025.

Beginning in 2014, it aggregated contributions from PERA retirees and made 24 donations to Colorado-based, child-focused nonprofits, including organizations like the Western Slope Center for Children in Grand Junction, Colorado, which provides collaborative services to child abuse victims and their families, and Food for Thought, Denver, which is dedicated to fighting childhood hunger. The final donation was $4,760, which included all donations through June 2025, and was made to the Sunrise Optimist Club of Fort Morgan.
