Serve on PERA’s Board of Trustees
This year, two seats on the PERA Board of Trustees are up for election:
- School Division: one four-year term to be filled by an active member currently employed in the School Division.
- State Division (Higher Education): one four-year term to be filled by an active member currently employed by a Higher Education employer in the State Division.
Both seats are open to active members; there are no retiree seats up for election this year. You can learn more about the 2026 PERA Board election on the PERA website. If you are interested in running for a seat on PERA’s Board, complete the online candidacy packet request by February 27.
Serving on the PERA Board
The PERA Board is comprised of 16 Trustees, and PERA members and retirees directly elect 12 of them. The Board meets at least five times each year and is responsible for adopting the rules and policies for the administration of PERA. Elected Board members serve without pay but are reimbursed for necessary expenses.

Voting In the Election
In early May, ballots will be mailed to active members in the School and State Divisions. Members also will have the option to cast their vote through their online secure account and the PERA mobile app.
