Subsection 1.3 of House Bill 22-1057 is sunsetting on June 30, 2025. This legislation, passed during the 2022 legislative session, temporarily removed post-retirement employment limitations for PERA retirees with a valid teaching license serving as substitute teachers in school districts and charter schools that declared a critical shortage for qualified substitute teachers.

This bill will be repealed on July 1, 2025, as it was not renewed in any subsequent legislative sessions. Beginning on that date, PERA retirees working in substitute teaching positions will again be subject to annual post-retirement employment limits.
