Culture
Who We Are
We practice solid business solutions in providing excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Every employee who becomes a part of our organization brings unique lived experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and potential to enhance the team they join. Together we are building retirement security for the retirees of today and tomorrow.
PERA aims to foster an inclusive, supportive, and strengths-based workplace environment where every individual is encouraged to develop and thrive. We have implemented intentional and ingrained practices within our organizational culture to enable all team members to excel, resulting in enhanced job satisfaction, heightened employee engagement, and greater overall organizational success.
We recognize that the value we provide to our membership is dependent on the people who work at PERA; the success of the organization is directly related to the success of our staff.
Work/Life Balance
PERA supports harmony between professional responsibility and personal wellbeing by offering a variety of work schedules and hybrid work for the majority of our positions. PERA provides paid holidays and a generous Paid Time Off program. Our Penn Center location offers an onsite fitness center, while employees at our satellite location may take advantage of a fitness reimbursement program.

Employee learning and development are an integral part of PERA’s culture, demonstrating our dedication to empowering employees to achieve their utmost potential. PERA provides diverse opportunities including mentoring, leadership development, and a wide array of internal and external training options.
Community
PERA offers a variety of ways employees can participate in initiatives to support the communities in which we work and live. I HEART (Human Enrichment And Recreation Team) PERA is a committee dedicated to this work and employees can participate in fundraising and volunteer events held throughout the year.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
PERA prioritizes Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and has a three-year DEI strategic plan that reflects our commitment to ensuring a safe, equitable, and inclusive workplace for all employees. The goal of prioritizing DEI at PERA is to create an environment where a variety of perspectives are represented and valued, leading to enhanced creativity, problem solving, and decision making. Diversity expands beyond mere representation; it’s about integrating these diverse perspectives into the everyday work of the organization and using them within the organization’s strategies and goals.
This involves fostering a culture of open communication, mutual respect, and continuous learning, where differences are not simply accepted but celebrated. These practices empower all employees to contribute their best work, leading to increased job satisfaction, higher employee engagement, and greater organizational success.
