3 Benefits to Keeping Your PERA Profile Updated

Regularly checking your PERA profile is more than just maintaining accurate information. There are many benefits to updating your contact information.

Stay Informed

You never want to miss important information, especially when it comes to your retirement. Updating your contact information in your PERA account ensures you don’t miss PERA news and updates. You can help ensure you receive important information by checking your address, email, and phone number regularly. If it’s outdated, you can update your information in your PERA account.

Once you are logged into your PERA account:

  1. Select “Update my profile.”
  2. Choose “Edit Contact Information.”
  3. Select “Submit” to save your changes.

Help Protect Your Information

According to a 2026 study by the Federal Reserve, ““financial institutions are seeing more fraud attempts and losses.” Updating your contact information helps prevent fraud and keeps your information secure so it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

It’s also important to protect access to your PERA account. Use a strong, unique password for your PERA account; do not use a password you have used before. By maintaining accurate contact information and a strong password, you build stronger defenses against fraud.

Sign Up for Electronic Delivery

Updating your information also means updating how you would like to receive information from PERA. You can sign up for electronic delivery which will send information like newsletters, benefit statements, and other PERA documents directly to your email. You’ll receive information faster and you won’t have to worry about it getting lost in the mail.

As your information changes, remember to keep PERA informed. An updated and accurate PERA profile helps you stay informed about your retirement plan and receive important information.

Don’t Have a PERA Account Yet?

If you don’t already have a PERA account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the “Member Login/Registration” page.
  2. Select “Register as a new user.”
  3. Complete the “New User Registration” information.
  4. Log in to your account with your newly created user ID and password.
