Internet Security Disclosure & Information

Please read the following disclosure carefully. By logging on to the PERA secure pages, you affirm that you have read and do agree to adhere to the responsibilities and recommendations in this disclosure.

It is your responsibility to protect your PIN because it is your password to access your account information.

PERA strongly recommends the following:

  • Do not disclose your PIN to anyone.

  • Do not place your PIN in an accessible location.

  • Do not leave the computer unattended while logged on.

  • Always log-off PERA's secure site when you are done.

Notify PERA immediately if an unauthorized person obtains access to your PIN or there is unauthorized activity discovered.

It is your responsibility to carefully review your account information and to immediately contact PERA if you believe there is a discrepancy.

Access to your account information is for your convenience. PERA may restrict or discontinue your account access at any time and without notice.

Information Access Security

PERA is dedicated to providing secure information access.

To help ensure that your information is protected and only available to you, PERA uses PINs, SSL, and third-party certification.

Any member who has not refunded his or her PERA account may request a PIN to access personal account information. PERA uses a four-digit PIN in combination with the member's Social Security Number (SSN) to verify and grant him or her access to account information. To request a new PIN or to replace a PIN, please see the PIN Information page.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Protocol provides a method that encrypts information passed between the PERA server(s) and your browser to prevent others from accessing your information. This method uses a "challenge handshake" (or other such secure handshake authentication) and public/private key encryption on both sides (the server and the client) to help ensure that only your browser can translate the information being sent by PERA.

Third-party certification refers to a neutral third-party who has verified the authenticity of a Web site and has issued the owner(s) of that Web site a unique certificate. PERA's Web site has been certified by VeriSign, Inc., a certificate provider.

Browser Requirements

This Web site is designed to work best with the latest versions of browsers available. Browsers need to be Java-enabled, cookies-enabled, and support a minimum of 128-bit encryption for PERA's secured pages.
