Rollover Money in State DC Plan

If you previously rolled money into the State DC Plan from another account, that money will automatically be transferred to PERA’s 401(k) Plan rather than the PERA DC Plan. Both plans currently have the same investment options, however you will have to manage the investments separately. That means that you will have to select a 401(k) Plan beneficiary in addition to your DC Plan beneficiary.

State’s 401(a) Match Plan Transition Information

On July 1, 2009, members of the State 401(a) Match Plan became members of PERA’s 401(k) Plan. Legislation recently signed into law eliminates the State 401(a) Match Plan and transfers all assets in that Plan to PERA’s 401(k) Plan.

457 Plan

The State of Colorado 457 Plan transferred to PERA on July 1, 2009. You will see little immediate change in the 457 Plan as Great West, the current 457 Plan service provider, will continue to administer the 457 Plan under PERA’s oversight. All plan offerings will remain unchanged.

However, under PERA’s administration, the 457 Plan will undergo an extensive evaluation during 2009-2010. The evaluation will determine if and how the Plan could be improved. If changes are made, members and employers will be informed in advance before any changes are made.
